BOTSWANA'S MOST DIVERSE PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY

This 14-day safari explores three of Botswana’s most iconic wildlife regions — the Okavango Delta, Savuti, and the Chobe River — offering an exceptional diversity of photographic opportunities across dramatically different landscapes.

Designed specifically for wildlife photographers, this small-group safari combines private mobile expedition camping, flexible game drives in dedicated photographic vehicles, and specialist boat safaris, all led by professional wildlife photographer Stu Porter.

From Okavango floodplains and Savuti’s predator country to water-level photography from a purpose-built photo boat on the Chobe River, every stage of the journey is shaped around light, behaviour, and image creation.

Why This Safari Is Different ?

Small group photographic focus
Limited guest numbers (only 6, spread over TWO vehicles) ensures space, comfort, and the freedom to shoot without compromise.

Private mobile expedition camps
Flexible locations allow us to follow wildlife activity rather than fixed lodge schedules.

Three distinct ecosystems
Each region offers a completely different photographic experience — from watery Delta scenes to dry predator country and river-based wildlife encounters.

Specialist photographic platforms
Game drives are complemented by dedicated photo boat sessions on the Chobe River, offering unique water-level perspectives.

Professional photographic guidance
Field-based instruction, camera setup advice, and image review sessions tailored to your experience level.

What You Will Gain ?

By the end of this safari you will have:

  • A diverse and well-rounded Botswana wildlife portfolio
  • Improved confidence photographing action, behaviour, and changing light
  • Experience across multiple photographic environments
  • Greater understanding of animal behaviour and anticipation
  • Practical editing and image selection guidance

This safari suits enthusiastic beginners through to advanced photographers using modern DSLR or mirrorless systems.

A Day on Safari

Mobile Camping – Okavango Delta & Savuti

Each day begins in our private mobile camp with a gentle wake-up, hot water delivered to your basin, and a light breakfast around the campfire before heading out on game drive prior to sunrise. We photograph through the cool morning hours, stopping for tea or coffee and homemade biscuits, before returning to camp around midday for lunch, image downloads, a hot shower, and rest. In the afternoon, we gather again for tea and home-baked cake before heading out for our second game drive, returning just after sunset for dinner around the campfire, accompanied by the sounds of the African bush.

Chobe River – Pangolin Photo Boat Experience

On the Chobe River, days are centred around dedicated photographic boat sessions from the custom-designed Pangolin Photo Boat. After a light breakfast, we depart before sunrise for a morning river cruise, returning mid-morning for a relaxed brunch and time to review images. Following tea and cake in the afternoon, we head out again to photograph wildlife in the warm late-day light, returning after sunset to enjoy dinner on the deck at Pangolin Lodge overlooking the river.

Who This Safari Is For

  • Wildlife photographers seeking variety and depth

  • Travellers who value small groups and flexible pacing

  • Photographers looking to build a strong, diverse African portfolio

Non-photographers may join, but the safari is intentionally designed with photographers in mind.

About Your Leader – Stu Porter

Stu Porter has over two decades of experience guiding and photographing wildlife throughout Southern Africa. His calm, practical approach focuses on helping photographers understand light, behaviour, and composition in real field conditions.

This safari is not about rushing between sightings — it is about creating meaningful images through patience, positioning, and observation.

Limited Availability

To maintain the quality of the photographic experience, group size is strictly limited to 6 participants.

This small-group Botswana photographic safari explores the Okavango Delta, Savuti, and the Chobe River, providing wildlife photographers with flexible access, expert guidance, and exceptional photographic variety.

Day 1: Arrive in Johannesburg – Overnight

Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport and overnight at a nearby airport hotel, ensuring a relaxed start before travelling onward to Botswana.

Days 2–7: Okavango Delta – Mobile Photographic Expedition

THE VICTORIA FALLS

David Livingstone, the Scottish missionary and explorer, is believed to have been the first European to view the falls on 16 November 1855. Livingstone named his sighting in honour of Queen Victoria, but the Sotho language name, Mosi-oa-Tunya "The Smoke That Thunders", continues in common usage. The World Heritage List officially recognises both names.

While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, the Victoria Falls are classified the largest, based on its combined width of 1,708 metres (5,604 ft) and height of 108 metres (354 ft), resulting in the world's largest sheet of falling water. The Victoria Falls are roughly twice the height of North America's Niagara Falls and well over twice its width.

The river that flows over the falls is the Zambezi. This is Africa's 4th longest river with its source in Zambia. It flows through 6 different countries before it empties into the Indian Ocean on Africa's East Coast.
