Kruger National Park Photo Safari - Aug/Sep 2024
South Africa &
3 Spaces

OVERVIEW

Embark on an 11-day Photographic Safari set exclusively in Africa's oldest wilderness reserve, the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

This tour, organized through our office, will be executed by our partners in South Africa, Lawson’s birding, wildlife, and custom safaris. The primary focus of this journey is to capture the vast diversity of species within the Kruger, with an emphasis on photographing anything you encounter. Accommodations will be arranged in two of Kruger's prime photographic areas. Rather than ticking off species from a list, the goal is to concentrate on capturing the best possible photos, often stopping to photograph the same species if improvement is possible. By the conclusion of this photo tour, you will have compiled a captivating array of landscapes, birds, herbivores, carnivores, and reptiles.

Commencing from Johannesburg, your flight will take you eastward towards the Kruger, landing at Skukuza Airport, where your safari guide will meet you. The journey then proceeds to Central Kruger, renowned for its open landscapes adorned with Marula, Leadwood, and Jackalberry trees. Over the course of 5 full days, you'll explore in one of our specialized photographic vehicles, commencing early each morning to capitalize on the cool, active hours for predators. A packed lunch ensures flexibility, allowing you to stay out and photograph anything intriguing. Each day concludes with the capture of a breathtaking African sunset.

The second segment of your photographic safari ventures into Southern Kruger, characterized by open basalt plains in the east, the scenic Sabi River in the center, and rocky granite regions in the west. Your camp for the final 5 nights is strategically situated near highly productive rivers and waterholes, offering opportunities to photograph animals as they gather for water. The Sabi River, framed by massive Sausage and Mahogany trees, provides a habitat for the elusive Leopard.

Upon concluding the photographic safari, you'll fly from the Kruger (Skukuza) back to Johannesburg, where the tour reaches its conclusion.

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK

This is South Africa's flagship national park and the largest in the country at over 20 000 sq kilometres (nearly 8000 sq miles). Formed in 1896, Kruger shares its eastern border with the country of Mozambique. Kruger is a wildlife photographer's heaven with a diverse collection of mammals, birds and reptiles. The terrain is mostly flat with low ranges of hills. Stunningly beautiful seasonal rivers cross the park and provide the lifeblood for its inhabitants.
