Increase in Masai Mara Park fees - all 2024 bookings and beyond

Dear valued client,

We would like to inform you that the Narok County Council (NCC), responsible for the stewardship and preservation of the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, has implemented adjustments to its entrance fees for the year 2024 and beyond. Kindly find the revised fee structure outlined below, categorized into two distinct travel seasons.

1st January – 30th June 2024 for international visitors
USD$ 100 per day, per adult (up from USD$ 70)

1st July – 31st December 2024 for international visitors
USD$ 200 per day, per adult (up from USD$ 70)

The updated park fees will be in effect for all individuals visiting the Masai Mara National Reserve starting from January 1, 2024. As this is a government fee increase that is beyond our control, we have had no choice but to revise the rates for all previously confirmed bookings, as well as any provisional 2024 reservations, to reflect these new adjustments.

Price increases beyond our control are explained in our BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS (Point no.5) here:

These price adjustments are aimed at bolstering conservation initiatives, enhancing the Reserve's infrastructure, fostering support for local communities, and ultimately elevating the already extraordinary safari experience within the Masai Mara.

Furthermore, we would like to bring to your attention that the enforcement of a new 12-hour rule (from 6 am to 6 pm) has been put into effect immediately. This rule pertains to guests departing from the Masai Mara National Reserve after 11 am, and it will entail an additional full-day park fee charge. This rule does not affect those departing on the morning flight schedule.

Guests participating in any activities, including a hot air balloon safari, within the Mara Triangle or Mara Conservancy on the morning of their departure are obligated to pay the full-day park fee for that specific day.

During the safari, your mode of travel will be by ground transportation, a choice that presents several notable advantages. Opting for land travel eliminates the need for costly air transfers with their often restrictive luggage allowances for photographers, ultimately saving you both time and the inconvenience of having to navigate such restrictions. Moreover, traveling by road provides you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local countryside. Morning drives will still be a part of your itinerary before each departure, maximizing your chances of capturing exceptional shots.

Your remarkable journey commences with a warm welcome at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, followed by a seamless transfer to a Nairobi hotel for an overnight rest. The following day, you'll embark on a road transfer to Amboseli National Park, where you'll enjoy a delightful three-night stay.

From there, you'll traverse the Namanga border into Tanzania, linking up with Tanzanian guides and vehicles. Your path leads to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, where you'll relish a two-night stay. The next stop on your adventure is Serengeti National Park, where you'll bask in the heart of the reserve for three nights.

Continuing your journey, you'll venture to the captivating Ndutu area, a four-night haven for exploration. Your return journey brings you back to Nairobi via an overnight stop in Arusha, with the convenience of a day room at a nearby hotel before your departure.

Encompassing an area of 392 square kilometers, Amboseli National Park is celebrated for its intimate encounters with majestic elephants set against the awe-inspiring Mount Kilimanjaro as a backdrop. The park's two prominent swamps and Lake Amboseli serve as a magnet for a diverse array of wildlife and avian species, establishing it as Kenya's second most sought-after wildlife destination, following closely behind the Maasai Mara.

The Ngorongoro Crater, shaped roughly 2.5 million years ago, stands as both a UNESCO World Heritage site and a mesmerizing testament to nature's grandeur. Within the caldera, where a lush grassy floor and soda lake unfold, resides a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including the world's densest population of lions.

Encompassing a vast expanse of 14,750 square kilometers, Serengeti National Park is celebrated for its profusion of wildlife and its pivotal role as the epic backdrop for the Great Migration. Its varied landscapes, which encompass hills, valleys, lakes, and woodlands, provide an inexhaustible canvas for capturing the beauty of wildlife through the lens.

The Ndutu area stands as a bountiful wildlife haven, offering superb chances for wildlife observation and photography year-round. In the months of February and March, it becomes a birthing ground as thousands of wildebeest and zebras migrate to this region, drawing predators and presenting remarkable photo prospects. One of the key advantages here is the allowance for off-road driving, affording flexibility in positioning the vehicle to ensure the best possible conditions for photography.

This intimate photo tour caters to a maximum of six participants, thoughtfully arranged into two private vehicles, with three participants in each vehicle. You'll enjoy unrestricted access to both sides of the safari vehicle, ensuring ample room for your camera equipment. Leading the tour is the experienced photographer, Villiers Steyn, who will offer photography instruction and guidance tailored to the needs of beginners, intermediate photographers, and those at an advanced level. Our proficient local safari guides will be dedicated to the task, tirelessly seeking out wildlife and skillfully positioning the vehicle to maximize your photographic opportunities.

Throughout this captivating photographic safari encompassing Amboseli, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, and Ndutu, you'll be presented with exceptional opportunities to observe and capture a diverse array of wildlife. Expect to encounter and photograph a splendid array of creatures, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, Cape buffalo, hippos, black rhinos, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, baboons, monkeys, and a myriad of bird species. Furthermore, the landscapes at each of these locations are nothing short of breathtaking, serving as remarkable canvases to enhance the beauty of your photography.

Get ready to embark on a remarkable expedition, one destined to etch the magnificence of nature and the awe-inspiring wildlife of Kenya and Tanzania into your memories, creating lasting impressions of your photographic adventure.
