July 2017 - WILD4 Photo Safari vehicle Launch - KENYA

Posted by Wild4 Photo Safaris on 28th Jul 2017

We are very proud to announce the launch of our first Kenyan photographically modified safari vehicle, which will be available for use on both our scheduled and custom designed photo safaris within Kenya.

Our previous clients will know how we have pioneered the way to provide photographic supports on vehicles for photographers. Our professional adjustable photobar and beanbag systems that we use on safari vehicles in Botswana, Kruger, Mala Mala, Namibia and Tanzania offer a comfortable solution to the challenges of using heavy telephoto lenses. With the launch of our latest photographically modified safari vehicle, we have taken these photographic modifications to a new and even more professional level.

The vehicle was purchased in 2016 and the unique photo modifications were done in March 2017. We then took the vehicle for a test run to Tsavo, East, West and Amboseli in Kenya, in early July and not only did the vehicle prove to be better than we had hoped, we will also be launching a new tour to include Tsavo, Amboseli and the Masai Mara. The first of these trips will be run in 2018, details of which will be posted soon.

The vehicle has been modified specifically for photography and here are just some of the special features that it offers:

> More comfortable and more spacious than other vehicles
> Specially designed seat back pockets for photographic equipment
> Comfortable seated and standing shooting positions
> Seated shooting height can be adjusted based on how tall you are
> Professional beanbags and panning plates are provided
> A Gimbal can be attached (but not provided)
> Re-charging facilities on board
> Roll back canvas roof for unobstructed views
> Roll up canvas sides for better field of view when seated
> Unique rain protection system allows for photographing in the rain
> Ready to use GoPro / Action Camera mounting points
> Comfortable reclining seats
> Maximum of only 3 photographers with access to both sides of the safari vehicle

After 15 years in the industry focusing purely on small group photographic safaris, I believe that this is without doubt the most unique and versatile photo safari vehicle in Africa !

We look forward to welcoming you in Kenya !

Testimonials I was fortunate to be on Wild4's "Best of Botswana" trip in May 2014. It could well be the Best of Africa. This trip featured two expert guides (Stu Porter himself and Nkosi from Letaka Safaris) and the abundant wildlife of four different Botswanan hot spots, with relatively few other vehicles around. Those features alone are worth the price of admission, particularly since they include Stu's vehicle modifications that ensure the best possible photographic experience. But if that isn't enough, we spent the first ten nights in expedition style mobile camps, roughing it with bucket showers and drop toilets, and listening to the leopards, elephants and hyenas wandering in and around the camps at night. But don't worry about the "roughing it" part. The expert staff prepares perfect meals, including fresh baked breads and cakes, and ensures that the camp is safe and clean.  We finished the 12-night trip in a luxury lodge on the Chobe River, where we photographed from a boat customised to accommodate serious photographers (i.e. people with lenses bigger than their legs) and a waterway full of hippos and elephants and lined with Africa's most iconic birds. If you can only go once to Africa, go to Botswana with Wild4 Photographic Safaris. They will take care of every detail of your safari to ensure that everything is just right. If you are an old Africa veteran, ditto. You just can't go wrong with Wild4.

Testimonials My wife and I have been on three photo safaris with Stu. The first trip was the result of a recommendation from a friend. The second and third trips were because Stu did such a good job on the first. He is a thoroughly professional guide and offers such a terrific experience wherever he takes us. Stu shares his extensive knowledge of photography and has made it possible for us to get better photos and expand our understanding of what it takes to capture more of each photographic opportunity. It takes a special person to guide photographers around Africa, keep them comfortable, provide them with the best photo locations at the best time of the day, manage the schedules, vehicles, drivers, flights and food and still remain calmly in control. I think it would be appropriate to call Stu and ultimate professional. He is supported well by Justyna in the office and we anticipate traveling more with Wild4 in the future. You should book a trip with him as soon as you can!
